Daaci’s Open Beta launches with natural drums plugin

British startup Daaci has been gaining traction in AI music for some time; in 2022, they won a category at the first-ever Music Ally SI:X awards. With an open beta community, the company is now making its technology available to more musicians. The first “creator plugin” from Daaci, Natural Drums, is released alongside the announcement. 

“An assistive AI co-pilot plugin that creates drum grooves in real time,” is how the company puts it. Producers and musicians can use it to create beats quickly or more freely by jamming along.

Before the launch, CEO Rachel Lyske told Music Ally, “Our doors are always open to people, whether they’re producers, artists, professors of machine learning, university students, or anybody else it might be.” 

“We welcome suggestions from everyone. And we have a great chance to turn that into an official community where people can contribute to developing these tools.”

Daaci’s resolve to revolutionize music composition

In a press release in 2022, Daaci told the public that it has created and submitted several patents for its revolutionary AI core technology, which is poised to democratize music creation for the masses in the metaverse and change how music is composed. 

DAACI is a fully developed artificial intelligence system that composes, arranges, orchestrates, and creates the best original music. It is based on the fundamentals of musical composition and draws from three decades of doctoral music research. Unlike other AI music tools, no ready-made samples or pre-recorded tracks exist. Instead, DAACI dynamically adapts to the creator’s brief, allowing for the infinite generation of musical elements and textures on demand in real time. 

The DAACI framework’s proprietary core technology, which dynamically adapts to user inputs and captures compositional intent, is the subject of the patents. DAACI, created to drive the advancement of music creation, has many uses, including video game scores and metaverse gaming.

Daaci’s natural drums

Daaci is interested in including its community in the process of creating amazing AI music plugins. In the past few years, Lyske has regularly been preaching this inclusive message at conferences for the music and tech industries.

“We’re not harming people with this. She emphasized that Natural Drums is intended to be guided by each user’s ideas as they work, rather than utilizing preset beats, saying, “We’re doing this with people.”

Daaci has already partnered with several organizations, including BIMM, the Brit School, and the London College of Contemporary Music (LCCM), to get its technology into the hands of aspiring musicians.

Natural Drums and the open beta will carry on that process. Daaci intends to proceed along the conventional startup route of obtaining capital, adding “bass, melody, chord voicings…” to drums as well as other components of the music-making process. 

“We’re getting raised. I believe we are always growing, just like every other startup! To strengthen our work, we’re always searching for strategic alliances and funding,” Lyske said. 

“We are not alone in this and cannot accomplish this alone. Consequently, while funding is necessary, we also need collaborators who share our enthusiasm for our goals and methodology.”
